A Free Form, Flexible Approach
A quarterly retainer relationship allows the coach to work with the leadership over time in "small doses" while affording both parties time to identify the highest value-added opportunity areas for development. Two - three hours per month usually prove more than enough time to work together face-to-face or by phone (and I know that sometimes even that time is hard to come by).
Depending on the nature of the assignment, additional time is spent by the coach in gathering and validating input from others and compiling information, readings and recommendations to help guide, focus and educate the leadership. Each leaders development plan is personalized and the coach is available on an ongoing basis to assist in their skill development. In all, the coach spends about four - six hours per month in this type of relationship.

Program for Tomorrow's Strategic Leaders
The Business Performance program lies at the very core of the suite of learning experiences comprising the SMA portfolio. The increasing acceptance by business leaders of the importance of nurturing pro-active change within the Organization has resulted in Business Performance being the most sought-after program we offer.
This program is aimed at the individual or group at mid-leadership level. He or she will now be looking towards developing their responsiveness to the changing environment, beginning to see the systemic bigger picture, and thinking strategically about the future of the business, and the role he or she will take in it's success.
Business Performance takes the essential features of Personal Performance, and fuses the newly found knowledge of 'self' into the requirements of the business. Thus, personal attributes such as developing awareness, personal values and beliefs, effective and ineffective behaviors, clarity of direction, creating alliances will form the nucleus at the front end of the program. To these will be added sessions that address vision, change, value creation and creativity which enable the individual to focus on producing enhanced business results.
Whilst SMA programs are modular, each module is selected and focused to meet the particular needs of the individual. The participant identifies his or her specific 'Outcomes' for the program. These outcomes will embrace such corporate outcomes as are identified in consultation with the organization. All outcomes will be specific, measurable and deliverable, and the program will be complete only once they have been achieved. Typical outcomes might include developing a high level of self-accountability and responsibility reference 'results', improving flexibility, enhancing internal/external relationship management, improving coaching/mentoring ability, developing a flexible behavioral model that delivers results, improving the ability to think systemically and note connections, improving planning and resource allocation, clarity reference 'added value', and the ability to embrace ambiguity and chaos.
The Business Performance program comes complete with our full range of developmental tools: Mind Filters, 360 Feedback and Leadership in Action.
Thus, Business Performance enables the individual to identify and adopt a behavioral operating model which provides a self-sustaining, lasting impact on the future growth and prosperity of the business.
One-to-one Delivery: 10 Sessions X 3 hours.

Program for Today's Executive Leaders
Leading, responding, delivering results and Change. All part of everyday life for the Executive Leader in today's fast moving organizations.
Change as a concept has always been with us, and those who have recognized the need to change and have reacted to that need at an early stage have also led the way in delivering success. However, what has undoubtedly changed is the scale and speed of change and that has to be addressed in the new millennium. Levels of performance, prediction and innovative thinking, once heralded as measures of excellence, may now not be sufficient to recognize and react to less predictable market trends, advanced technology, employee and client expectations.
The Executive Leader's role, also embraces the engagement of his or her Line and Resource Leaders in demonstrating new direction, vision, and learning and so drives the unit forward towards even greater success.
"Executive Performance" provides Executive Leaders with the tools to address the movement into the unknown. They begin to visualize their own company creating it's own future, instead of reacting to it.
Using the structure of the program, participants start to recognize and embrace the thinking styles and patterns, which will shape tomorrow's leaders. They will re-examine strategies and conceptualize the new culture and performance level required for corporate leadership and greater success. With this new thinking will come the means to influence acceptance of less rigid parameters and extended boundaries among their people.
The SMA "Executive Performance" programs set out to help participants identify the questions they should be asking about the needs of tomorrow, and provide the tools to create the strategy for the future, thereby providing the framework to 'Make a difference' of lasting impact, leading to sustainable levels of excellence.
Process
This program consists of 12 sessions (one session per month) each lasting 3 hours. The coach spends approximately 3 hours preparing for each session and 3 hours after each session integrating the information into a process of learning and development for the coachee. In addition the coach is available during the period between sessions to work with the coachee via e-mail or telephone concerning any business issues where the coach can provide guidance. All books (11 are used in this program) and other materials are included in the cost.

A Program for Transition
This program has been developed from the core Personal Performance program, and is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are entering the arena of improving performance through personal development for the first time. Such individuals are likely to be either graduates entering the workplace, individuals about to take up early stage leadership, and those who find the pace of change to be challenging.
The program is particularly relevant as a prelude to participating in Team involvement, where an understanding of alternative thought processes is essential to maximize the generation of quality consensus and commitment.
Participants will gain greater awareness of how they operate both as individuals, and as team members and will explore the power of accountability and the connections between influence and relationships.
As participants progress through the program they will explore further key themes such as understanding the 'Big Picture' and how they as individuals add value. They will understand the need to take responsibility for their own personal development plans for the future, of which this will be the first step.
"Fast Track" provides individuals with the tools to address the measurement of present personal performance and to set clear goals and objectives to deliver enhanced performance in the future. Using the structure of the program, participants start to recognize their effective and ineffective patterns of working and to understand the personal processes for maintaining their performance at the highest level.
5 Sessions x 2 hours.

Program for Potential High-Flyers
Personal Performance is a modular, flexible program, aimed at those who although currently in a fairly junior leadership role, have been identified as having sufficient potential to be earmarked ultimately to be a major player within the organization. Participants may also be newly appointed graduate entrants with perhaps very little experience of Personal Development programs and how these may impact upon the way in which we operate.
Frequently first impressions count, and the new leader will be keen to demonstrate to his seniors as well as his team his leadership attributes and future potential.
Like all SMA coaching programs, Personal Performance addresses the participant's individual needs by agreeing, at commencement, specific, measurable, deliverable outcomes. Individuals are encouraged to counsel their line-leadership in setting their outcomes and to seek guidance as to what corporate outcome(s) should be included.
The program works at the level of 'values & beliefs' and, through examining previous successes and setbacks, comfort zones and programming identifies the present behavioral operating model. This exploration enables, usually for the first time, awareness of the impact that individual behavior can have on strategy, relationship management, influence and decision-making. Accountability and responsibility, time management and goal setting are all reviewed and the learning taken forward in action steps in 'real time' work. The 'wins' that occur, improve self-esteem and confidence and demonstrate how nurturing these can improve performance.
The Mind Filters development tool enhances the program as participants begin to understand how they filter information and how this impacts upon performance. They become aware of the importance of others' perceptions and of the benefits of improved communication.
The individual creates his or her own behavioral operating model for the future.
7 Sessions X 2 hours.
